Beijing Day 2 highlights

  1. The Great Wall of China (2-6 hours recommended time for a visit depending on section)
  2. Ming Tombs (1-2 hours)
  3. Olympic sites (0.5 hour)

You can visit The Great Wall, Ming Tombs and Olympic sites in one day if you go with a taxi or if you take an organized tour with a travel agency. Tours usually start in the morning with Ming Tombs, followed by Great Wall, and Olympic sites at the end of the tour. Cheapest tours cost about CNY150 per person and price includes transportation, tickets to the Great Wall and Ming Tombs and guide. An additional charge is for gondola or chairlift at Great Wall and lunch. The cheapest tours also include visits to various factories and stores (usually factory of silk, jade, tea), with 45 minutes stops at each. The first 10 minutes of factory visits are interesting because you can see the technology of making goods of different materials and plants, but the rest of the time you will be offered to buy products at much higher prices than those you can find in other stores. Of course, you don’t have to buy anything.

Alternately, if you want to skip organized tour and/or Ming Dynasty Tombs, you can visit only Great Wall and Olympic sites by public transportation, which can also be a good option.
