Total time for a sightseeing without pauses and travel time: 5.5-6.5 hours

Start your day with Temple of Heaven. Come early in the morning, when locals practice tai chi, dancing and singing traditional Chinese opera. Tour the Temple with our step by step walking tour.

Continue you sightseeing on Day 3 by visiting one of the traditional Beijing Hutongs. Our suggestion goes to Nanluogu Xiang Hutong. This Hutong is north of Temple of Heaven, and it is not close, so you can go there either by metro or take a taxi. For metro at Tiantan Dongmen station take metro line 5 towards Tiantongyuan North station. At Dongsi station, get off line 5 and take line 6 towards Haidian Wuluju. Get off at Nanluoguxiang station, Exit E and for 500 meters north you will be at the Nanluogu Xiang hutong.

Lama Temple is about 2.5 km north-east from Nanluogu Xiang hutong so you can either walk or take the taxi to the temple. If you decide that walking is the best option for you, from Nanluogu Xiang turn right onto Gulou East Street (鼓楼东大街). After about 700 m turn left onto Yonghegong Street (雍和宫大街; Lama Temple Street). Walk for another 700 m and Lama Temple will be on your right side.

Beijing Opera is a great way to finish you day. Liyuan Theater in the Jianguo Qianmen Hotel is one of the places where you can watch traditional Beijing Opera.
