Beijing for kids

Although Beijing does offer some entertainment for kids, it can’t compete in this regard with other cities, such as Hong Kong. Overcrowded roads, traffic jams, low culture in traffic, and pollution don’t help when thinking about Beijing and kids, either. However, this doesn’t mean that your youngest can’t enjoy in Beijing. Even some “adult” attractions can provide interesting experiences for kids. Alpine slide ride from Mutianyu section of The Great Wall, boat ride in Summer Palace, and funny creations in 798 Art Zone can be more interesting for your children than for you. There is something in almost all Beijing sights that will bring joy for your kids, so don’t hesitate to take them with you when doing “serious” sightseeing in Beijing.

Arguably the most interesting places for kids in Beijing are acrobatics and martial arts theaters. Colorful and skillful stunts are fascinating for every child. Among all theaters in Beijing, Chaoyang Theatre is the best one.

Chaoyang Theatre (北京朝阳剧场) was established in 1984 and covers an area of 3,000 square meters. It is a perfect place to take your children to, and just like your kids may enjoy in “your” sights, you will enjoy this show as well. Even if you are not the lover of the circus, you will be entertained and amazed just like a child. Excellent acting, creative costumes full of different colors, and acrobats who are more than highly skillful will provide an unforgettable evening for the whole family, no matter the age. Music is part of the show that could be improved.

If you book tickets online you will get a discount. You don’t have to buy most expensive tickets for the first row seats since you will have a good experience even from the last rows. There are no heating inside the theater, so make sure you wear warm clothes if you happen to be in Beijing during the winter. There are cheap refreshments and snacks just outside of the theater. It is not allowed to take photos during the performance. Chaoyang Theatre is a spectacle that should not be missed if you have some extra time in Beijing.
