Most essential thing to do while in Yangshuo, or even more in Guangxi region in general, is to take boat or raft ride and hike along Li River. Li River is most beautiful and most scenic river in China, leaving behind hard competitors such as more famous Yangtze and Yellow River. Therefore, you should enjoy at least one day in beauties of Li River.
It is not surprising at all that Li River is usually described as Heaven on Earth. It became one of China’s top tourist destinations mostly due to the magnificent scenery and the landscape that can be a holiday for your eyes. Surrounded by magnificent mountains, the breathtaking view of the river will definitely make you forget about the rest of the world. The perfect combination of water and mountains makes them be completely alive. The beauty of the river is even more emphasized with marvelous hills, caves and cliffs, but also lots of bamboo trees which stretch along the river. It is safe and clean during the summer, so you may enjoy swimming as well. Even during a walk or while you ride a raft, you can make a break and refresh yourself in the water. However, you should pay the attention on the river currents.
Stretch between Yangdi and Xingping is considered as most beautiful part of Li River. It can be done by raft and on foot or at best – by both. There are some parts of this section that are hard for mountain biking, so it is not recommended for bikes. Li River is 437 km long in total and wide up to 200 meters.
There are numerous ways how you can visit Li River. Depending on your physical condition, preferences and budget, you can chose one of the itineraries recommended here.
Option 1 (Raft and hike between Xingping village and Yangdi)
Time: 7.5 – 10.5 hours
Length: 90 km
This option is most recommended, because it includes enjoying in most attractive Li River section, both by raft and on foot.

Option 2 (Bus from Yangshuo to Yangdi; walk from Yangdi to Xingping village)
Time: 7.5 – 9.5 hours
Length: 85 km
Compering to Option 1 this option gives you more time for Xingping, more leisure hike from Yangdi to Xingping and it is cheaper. Downside of this option is that you would not have a raft ride and you would miss some parts of the river.

Option 3 (Bus from Yangshuo to Yangdi; raft from Yangdi to Xingping village)
Time: 4.5 – 5.5 hours
Length: 78 km
