Yangshuo people, language, and religion

Yangshuo currently counts around 310 thousand inhabitants. The largest part of the population consists of Han Chinese (87%), while other 13% are different ethnic groups such as the Yao, Hui, and Zhuang. Near Yangshuo, there are villages where most of the population are some minority groups, so it is interesting to visit them for the insight into their culture and customs.

Mandarin Chinese and Yangshuo dialects are mainly spoken here. Most locals that are related to tourism speak English well. The situation is somewhat different when you go to rural towns and villages near Yangshuo.

The vast majority of the population are Buddhists, while other religious groups are within small percentage.
